‘I am the angel of the sun,
Whose flaming wheels begin to run,
When God’s almighty breath
Said to the darkness and the night,
Let there be light! And there was light
I bring the gift of faith’
The Golden Legend – Raphael, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Angels are beings of pure love and live in the seventh dimension vibrating at such a high frequency that we do not see them. They are near to us all the time and are part of our culture in Muslim, Jewish and Christian traditions.
The angel METATRON is also SHEKINAH the female principle of God in man. King of Angels he/she is one of the few who are able to look on the face of God. He/She is the link between the material and the divine.
GABRIEL’S name means ‘God is my Strength’ and his element is water. He is the ruler of the moon and the first heaven. He helps us in our hopes, dreams and aspirations. Invoking Gabriel will help us draw down the power of the moon to help us develop our intuition.
RAPHAEL represents the element air. His name means ‘God has Healed’ and he is the angel of the sun, the second heaven and the west wind. We should invoke him when we want to heal ourselves, others or the earth itself. Legend says that it was Raphael who gave a book of science and knowledge to Noah to rebuild the world.
CAMAEL is ‘He Who Sees God’ and he represents courage, empowerment and justice. He will help us deal with fear, anxiety and the ‘dark night of the soul’. It is said that he gave comfort and solace to Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.
MICHAEL radiates strength, protection and truth. He is one of the greatest of the angels ‘Who is as God’. He appears in Christian, Persian, Moslem and Jewish texts. Ruler of the fourth heaven he is referred to in the Dead Sea Scrolls as the Prince of Light and the chief warrior against darkness. We can ask him for the protection of his blue cloak to shield us from bad energy or the forces of darkness. His sword can help us with all manner of problems including cutting the ties that bind us to others. If we are suddenly afraid of the darkness his sword can slice through it.
ZADKIEL is ‘Righteousness of God’. He is ruler of the planet Jupiter, the sixth heaven and chief of the order of Dominions. He brings us abundance, wisdom and success. He will help us hold on to our ideals in the face of difficulties.
HANIEL is chief of the order of Virtues and Principalities. She rules Venus (the morning and evening star) and is one of the angels of Creation bringing us love, compassion and beauty.
CASSIEL , ‘Speed of God,’ is ruler of the seventh heaven, the Cherabim and planet Saturn. She represents peace, harmony and serenity and will help us deal with any disharmony or sadness in our life.
There are many, many more angels belonging to the following groups who have their special areas of responsibility.
PRINCIPALITIES – Above the Archangels are the Principalities, who look after large projects.
POWERS – These are the Lords of Karma and the Angels of Birth and Death.
VIRTUES – They send out beams of light to help us with our ascension.
DOMINIONS – They are the celestial prefects and angels of mercy.
THRONES – These mighty beings guard the planets. Lady Gaia (angel of the earth) is a Throne.
CHERUBIM – Angels of wisdom, the guardians of the stars and celestial realms.
SERAPHIM – Are the heavenly hosts who surround God, they hold musical tones to maintain the vibration of Creation.
We also have our own GUARDIAN ANGEL who will give us the benefit of their wisdom if we ask. We must first get to know our Angel by name and they will come close to us.
Our Guardian Angel should not be confused with our spirit guides who have personalities, they can be humorous or not and are usually quite talkative… if only we will listen!
I fled Him, down the night and down the days,
I fled Him, down the arches of the Years,
I fled Him, down the labyrinthine ways
Of my own mind, and in the mist of tears
I hid from Him, and under running laughter.
Up vistaed slopes, I sped, and shot precipitated,
Adown Titanic glooms of chasmed fears,
From those strong Feet that followed, followed after.
